I mess up at most of what I do, including being a father. I’ve learned a lot having grown up daughters. I missed their time as little kids, I missed them growing up. I missed everything. Now I have little kids back in the house. The first 5 years of my kids’ lives are everything. They are little so for tiny portion of our lives. 90% of their brain development happens in that window. It’s on us to be present, to give them their moral compass, to give them a sense of security and worth.
Guiding them to be strong and moral. That’s what I want for my kids too. Being there, really there, in those early years sets the course for who they’ll grow up to be.
Once the train has left you will never get it back. They are little for such a tiny portion of our lives. Don’t miss it. It’s the best and most purposeful life one can live.
